Thermopoint

Red means ready. Green means cool.

Most nonstick pans fail for the same reason: they get too hot before the food goes in. Thermopoint puts a heat indicator in the handle. It turns red at frying temperature and green as the pan cools.

You stop guessing. The coating stops overheating. Eggs release, butter does not burn, and cleaning takes less time.

  • Red. The pan is ready for oil and food.
  • Green. Cool enough to wipe out and wash.

Thermopoint is fitted to selected lines, including Bologna. The product description in our store lists it where it applies.

Since 1889

A workshop, a town, a name on the pan.

Ballarini began in Rivarolo Mantovano, in the Mantua lowlands, in 1889. Paolo Ballarini and his sons ran a metal workshop. They made bird cages, tins and household goods before they made cookware.

The castle gate in our mark is the gate of Rivarolo Mantovano. It still stands at the end of the street. The address has not changed.

I bought the Parma Plus set to replace three mismatched pans. The 28 cm pan has cooked eggs every morning for eight months and nothing sticks. It is lighter than I expected, which matters when your wrists are not twenty any more.

I use metal tongs and a fork, and the Modena pans have not scratched. They heat faster than the old aluminium pans I had. The 11-inch pan is the one I reach for most.

The cocotte goes from the hob to the oven and then to the table. I make ragù in it on Sundays. It is heavy, but that is the point.

Where is Ballarini cookware made?

Our cookware is made in Italy, in Rivarolo Mantovano, in the province of Mantua. The town has been our home since 1889. Knives and some kitchen tools are made with specialist partners; the product description in our store states where each piece is made.

Who makes Ballarini cookware?

Ballarini makes it. Our own team designs, coats, assembles and checks the cookware in Rivarolo Mantovano. The people who answer your emails work in the same company as the people who make the pans.

Who owns Ballarini?

Ballarini is a cookware house based in Rivarolo Mantovano, Italy. This website and our official store are run by the brand itself, and every order placed through store.theballarini.com is fulfilled by Ballarini.

Is Ballarini cookware safe?

Yes, when used as directed. Our nonstick coatings are PFOA-free and tested for food contact. Use low to medium heat, avoid overheating an empty pan, and replace a pan if the coating is deeply scratched or flaking. Ventilate the kitchen while cooking, as you would with any coated cookware.

Are Ballarini pans PFOA-free?

All current Ballarini nonstick coatings are PFOA-free. We do not use PFOA in the coating process. The ceramic coating on Parma Plus is also free of PFAS.

What is Ballarini Granitium coating?

Granitium is our mineral-reinforced nonstick coating. Ceramic particles are mixed into the coating to make it harder and more resistant to scratches than a standard nonstick surface. On most Granitium lines it is metal-utensil safe. It is still a coating: use low to medium heat and avoid cutting directly in the pan.

Are Ballarini pans induction compatible?

Not every pan. Induction needs a magnetic base, and Ballarini makes both induction-ready and gas or electric only lines. Look for the induction symbol on the base or in the product description before you order. If you cook on induction, choose a line marked induction compatible.

Can Ballarini pans be used on gas and electric stoves?

Yes. All Ballarini cookware works on gas, electric and ceramic hobs. Induction is the exception and depends on the base, so check the symbol before buying.

Can you use metal utensils on Ballarini pans?

On Granitium-coated pans, yes. The coating is designed to withstand metal utensils without scratching through. Ceramic-coated pans such as Parma Plus last longer with silicone, wood or plastic utensils, even though occasional metal contact will not ruin them.

How do you clean Ballarini cookware?

Let the pan cool, then wash it with warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft sponge. Most lines are dishwasher safe, but hand washing keeps the coating cleaner for longer. Skip steel wool and abrasive powders. For stuck food, simmer water in the pan for a few minutes, then wipe.

How long does Ballarini nonstick coating last?

It depends on heat and care. A Granitium pan used on medium heat and washed by hand can stay nonstick for years. Repeated overheating, empty dry pans and abrasive cleaning shorten that. No coating lasts forever; when eggs start sticking across the whole surface, it is time for a new pan.

What is the Ballarini Thermopoint indicator?

Thermopoint is a heat indicator built into the handle of selected pans. It turns red when the pan is at the right temperature for frying and green when it has cooled down. It takes the guesswork out of preheating and helps you avoid burning the coating.
